THE SPARK OF A MOVEMENT

OUR
START

Founded by Rev. Dr. C.P. Williams, Irving R. (Dick) Webster and Norman C. Mooney in August 1968, “The Guild” was formed to celebrate Dr. King’s message of doing for others as he urged us to embrace a spirit of service and compassion, recognizing that our actions have the power to create positive change.

In Honoring His Legacy

Let’s commit to acts of kindness, understanding, and community service. By working together, we can build a world where the principles of equality and justice prevail.

In the Community

In January of 1995 “The Guild” merged with the Community Action Board of Greater Long Branch to strengthen its efforts to support Dr. King’s legacy by working toward a more just and equitable society, where everyone is valued and respected, regardless of their race, ability, religion, or background.

In January of 2001, MLK Park was dedicated as a reminder to us to continue to uphold the tenets and beliefs of the late Dr. King.

Our Mission

In one of his last important works, Dr. King wrote the book, Where Do We Go From Here, Chaos or Community. We choose community. Our mission is to uplift the Long Branch community through education, advocacy, and collaboration, ensuring equitable access to resources and creating a more just and inclusive society.
